Matukituki Valley

This photo was taken on the 2010 New Zealand Alpine Club summer climbing camp at Matukituki Valley, which runs west from Lake Wanaka up to Mt Aspiring. We are looking east back down in the lake direction from approx 800 meters up the south wall of the valley, heading up to the Mt Barff summit. The grueling, near-vertical climb to this vantage pointed rewarded us with priceless views and Mt Cook Lilies in full bloom. Very special moment, even for the hardcore, life-time mountaineers.
